Melody & Meaning: Songwriters' Workshop

Words, when articulated in a meaningful way, have the power to change one’s mind. The resonance of sound has the power to change our mood. The atmosphere.

This monthly workshop is dedicated to the art and craft of creating words and music and the ideal marriage of both. We will get in touch with our inner songwriter by exploring the songwriting techniques

styles of various artists, both lyrically and instrumentally, in addition to writing our own songs. Songwriters will be given a new prompt each month and will have the opportunity to perform the song they wrote the following month, in any style they want. The process of songwriting will be discussed by looking at the structure of songs (verse, chorus, breakdown, etc.) and breaking down lyrical, melodic and instrumental foundations. Together, we will learn how to blend Melody and Meaning.
